A little city with a big heart Luxembourg is Europe's best kept secret. The capital of one of the world's smallest countries is a vibrant, dynamic city nestled within romantic, peaceful countryside that gives it plenty of natural space to breathe. Luxembourg's visitors tend to focus on its rich history but today's city is a modern, open, friendly place that has embraced the opportunities of high-tech life without losing its soul. It is international – people from 150 different countries now call it home – where major global corporate names have come to take advantage of cutting-edge technological expertise. 21st century connectivity is even visible in the streets with the impressive HotCity WiFi network that brings together its residents, visitors, local businesses and the city's services.

Luxembourg also hosts a number of EU institutions and more than 200 financial institutions in its world-renowned banking and finance sector. It is also a capital with a very human dimension. From small cafι bars to Michelin-starred restaurants, the city enjoys the best in gastronomy alongside a lively and diverse cultural scene including a number of popular outdoor festivals throughout the year. Luxembourg has twice been honoured as European Capital of Culture and it buzzes with artistic creativity such as the music, dance and theatre performances at the Grand Thιβtre and the state-of-the-art Philharmonie.

Luxembourg's multilingual character is reflected in its variety of exciting stage productions in Luxembourgish, French, German, Dutch and English. The city also boats a number of museums highlighting art, history and nature while the vestiges of its ancient fortress, dating from the 9th century, still remain and are now protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Luxembourg is very much a city of contrasts: a city among green countryside, a high-tech centre amid centuries-old history, a truly international hub with a local traditional feel.
